Just what this hiker "ordered"!. No more Rain down my back. Pack enclosed and strap to keep cover from flying away. Stay cool while hiking in Rain on hot days. If i need to stay warmer Lightheart Gear's Rain jacket Is my go to! This is great!
Looks good... any wait to try it out!
I kept this on my pack the whole month I hiked and traveled in Scotland. Easy to use, I could get into my (top loading pack) without removing the whole cover. Hood fit nicely over any hooded jacket I was wearing. The Hoody Pack Cover was the perfect solution to protecting the pack and me simultaneously. Hood and shoulder flaps can be tucked under the elastic, when not needed. All without removing pack. I wont need to look any further, this is definitely my pack cover from now on. Also I could drop my pack down on the wet ground without worry, while setting up, or tacking down camp.
I purchased the Royal Blue version of the Hoodie Pack Cover in 2019 after hiking with a guy in Vermont that had one. I used it extensively on several backpacking trips. Through no fault of the design or material, it was severely damaged while my pack was bounced around in the storage area of a bus during a trek in Nepal last fall. The Royal Blue pack cover weighed 5.5 oz in the .3 oz stuff sack.
I appreciated the functionality of the Hoodie Pack Cover and purchased a replacement for the one that was damaged. I received the Medium sized Hoodie Pack Cover in Cranberry today and look forward to using it in future backpacking trips. For reference, the current published weight for the medium sized Hoodie Pack Cover is 5.3 oz. The actual weight of the Hoodie Pack Cover I received today including the .3 oz. stuff sack is 6.3 oz. The material of the new cover has a much finer mesh than my old version which should add to the durability. There is an additional snap closure (3 vs 2) at the cowl. Both of these changes may have increased the weight a bit relative to the previous version I had.
The Hoodie Pack Cover is a great product.
I love this pack cover hoodie. In 2021 I thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail (Trail name - Pink Panther) and this pack cover was absolutely marvelous. On one particularly wet, chilly, rainy, rainy day in the 100 mile wilderness in Maine, using this pack cover and an umbrella, I was the only one out of our group of five hikers who was not wet and shivering when we got to camp. When the hood is covering my head, it not only keeps the rain from soaking my back and pack, it helps retain heat to keep me warm. I do not need assistance to put on the pack cover (unlike other poncho's I've tried to use), the cover has a clip which prevents it from being blown off the pack, and the blaze orange color is perfect for protection during hunting season.
